Matthew "Sovereign" Sampson commanded a special-operations team inside Ukraine's GUR/DIU International Legion for 635 consecutive days.
U.S. Marine Scout Sniper (MOS 0317). 761 days on the ground in Ukraine across six trips, 635 of them in combat across 2022–2024 commanding a special-operations team with the International Legion of Ukraine's Defence Intelligence (GUR/DIU). Well over 3,000 days in war zones across Iraq, Afghanistan, and Ukraine. In his own words: "For over four years, I have been in this fight. First with a rifle in my hands. Now with my voice." He now carries that fight beyond the front — to lawmakers, journalists, veterans, and citizens, from Capitol Hill to international security forums — having traveled over 20,000 miles to bring back ground truth.
By his own account a lifelong Republican — a credential he states plainly, and one that has opened doors in GOP Congressional offices most Ukraine advocates never reach. For Sampson the affiliation is a credibility lever, not a talking point: he carries the message into rooms where it would otherwise never be heard.
